The Edge of the Desert

Again we find ourselves standing at the edge of the desert. Lent is here. How has the world changed since the last time we entered?

There is a lot of talk about fear, and even more about anger. Everyone seems angry. People are being drawn together but also pushed further apart. “Dialogue” is most often punctuated with exclamations.

Perhaps no better time than now to let the desert welcome us in. No better moment to allow stillness to overtake us. No better path than one which leads away from the noise of the world and toward a still small voice that speaks the Truth.

Today we stand at the edge of the desert. Let the journey begin.

"But we will also take the journey in faith—not the kind of faith that knows all the answers and has mapped out the right and proper paths, but the faith that says simply, 'I don’t know, but I trust.'"  ~ Margaret Silf, The Other Side of Chaos
